Bishop John Noonan jokes with Sister Catherine Noecker, O.S.F., left, and Sister Ann Rowland, D.H.M. (GLENDA MEEKINS)

More than 40 religious from around the Diocese of Orlando gathered for their annual Jubilarian Mass and Luncheon at San Pedro Spiritual Development Center, Oct. 26, 2024. As Bishop Noonan presided over the Mass, he told the sisters, “Right now we are living in a very combative, dysfunctional world where evil is alive and well and people are absorbing evil in the environment. We have to be very positive.” Speaking of the Sunday Gospel in which Bartomeus asks to be healed of blindness, he told the sisters, “What do we want to see? We want to see peace in the world, hope and justice in the world that comes from the heart of Christ. That’s the beauty we are challenged with today.” He praised the sisters for their work, noting they “love and transform lives.”
