ORLANDO | Bishop John Noonan spent a “knight” out with University of Central Florida Catholic Campus Ministry students during their weekly KnightFire. The event offers time for fellowship and a chance to share thoughts and experiences of their Christian journey.

The evening began with St. Paul’s Outreach missionary Rebecca Laing explaining our mission to spread the Good News. She said it begins with a relationship with Christ. That relationship then reveals one’s identity in Christ, leading and equipping one to go out in missionary service to Him.

Student Jack Livingston followed up with a talk on what mission work can look like, in a practical sense, on campus.

“(It begins) by living a faithful, well-rounded Catholic life,” he said, adding that being authentic, yourself, is a great way to share your faith. He noted it’s important to be committed and confident in your mission.

Bishop Noonan then answered questions from the crowd about his life, his discernment, and questions of doctrine. He then posed his own questions to the students so he could take their responses back to Pope Francis as part of the Synod on Synodality. He asked them to consider how the Church can help the baptized respond to the call to spread the Gospel and live as a community of love and mercy today? They were encouraged to send him their responses after time for reflection.
